laura + michael * mr + mrs * the photos

one more post for laura + michael’s wedding because it was just that awesome. their slideshow (where we experimented with video as well) is a must see – view it here first!

not only was the venue perfect, the weather was too! 65 degrees in february! they couldn’t have asked for a better day.

we’ve never seen a more chill bride than laura.

shooting through the see-thru shower… a.w.e.s.o.m.e.

the w hotel midtown is one of our favorites in atlanta

laura + michael * the w hotel * something new

introducing something new for the reason!

we rented a nikon d3s for laura + michael’s wedding at the w hotel in midtown to experiment with video. we absolutely love the outcome of mixing the stills with the video to tell the story of their wedding day.

we’d love your feedback since we’re thinking about offering this. we’re by no means experts yet, but it was super fun to play with!

enjoy!

sara + robbie:

thanks for spending that 60 degree sunday with me! you two make me smile. :)

atlanta photographer shootout * bridals

we absolutely love shooting engagements and weddings with “real” people. it’s what we do.

every once in a while, however, we think it’s important to get our creative juices flowing. so we set up a shoot for a group of atlanta photographers with models, a makeup artist, and awesome locations. not only do we have a blast meeting and shooting with other photographers, but it also inspires us to think out of the box and try new things. here’s some shots from the day.

we stopped by our favorite place to watch movies during the summer (2 for the price of 1!), starlight six drivein. they’re awesome about letting us roam the lots!

you know what else was awesome? the models we snagged. michele, angela, and chad froze their booties off for us and still managed to look amazing!

i’ve always wanted to get photos like the two below. chad was an awesome smoker. is that bad to say?

next stop, the atlanta prison farm. you’ve seen us shoot (and video) there before. it recently got vandalized by fire, but we still found some awesome places to shoot.

some of the photographers working amongst the ruins

another photog shot – everyone worked so well together

amazing shot taken by our intern, Colleen. she’s the coolest.

another shot from colleen.

such a fun day! if you’re a photog in the atlanta area and are interested in going on shoots like this with us, join our facebook page – we’d love to have you!

mr. + mrs. * amy + kurt * tulsa, ok

amy + kurt’s wedding was like no other wedding we’ve shot before! first, it was in tulsa. second, we were snowed in! like… a lot of snow!

our flight was the last one into tulsa from dallas on thursday afternoon. we drove up to the lodge where all the wedding activities were and went straight to take a nap. when we woke up, the roads were iced over and it was snowing hard. luckily, one other family had arrived and they were nice enough to let us eat their food!

fortunately, everyone and everything was in one place for the wedding – post oak lodge. it was so beautiful, and then wedding party was up for anything!

the guys spent the whole morning playing campus golf in the snow.

amy’s dress:

no need for ice, the girls had the snow to chill the champagne!

it snowed for 24 hours straight, and then looked like this on the wedding day! so beautiful.

here’s kurt. we shot his sister’s wedding back in september and got to know his family really well. it would be an understatement to say we loved them.

lovely amy:

how awesome are these girls? they all had boots, so i asked if they would get in the snow…

… and no one complained. gotta love that!

amy + her dad getting ready to make the walk down the aisle

love this shot chris got from far away:

it was dark and chilly out after the ceremony, but kurt + amy happily did what we asked them to

kurt + amy:thanks for bringing us out to tulsa, it was such a beautiful wedding!

mentioned

two of our favorite people in the photography world – Sara France and Dane Sanders – mentioned us on a podcast interview. we met sara last year at wppi and got to hang out with her when we were in san diego. she’s also a big aperture user and trainer. see her on the apple site here. dane wrote a book called fast track photographer that helped us jump start our photography journey as a husband-wife team.

we had no idea they would be telling our story, so it was very cool to hear! you can listen to it here. you can skip to our story at around 22:40. if you’re a photographer, listen to the whole thing.

sarah + bryan * engaged * atlanta, ga

we were honored that sarah + bryan chose us to shoot their wedding, especially since they are photographers themselves! we had to get the warmed up in front of the camera, but it didn’t take long.

sarah workin’ those heels

love their silly side… so much fun!

how awesome are these shirts? bryan found his and then sarah searched for one and found it. perfect.

our awesome intern, colleen, snagged this shot of bryan warming sarah up.  :)

we love trying new things. sarah + bryan were up for anything, so we tested this on them. came out pretty sweet, dontcha think?

sarah + bryan: thanks for spending the windy, rainy afternoon with us! we had tons of fun and can’t wait for the wedding! :)

Instant California
